Meet your counsellor
Braden Moore, CCC, RP(Q)
Everyone needs a compassionate ear.
I approach our sessions together with an open heart and an affirming, non-judgmental stance.
I enjoy working with all people, and I’m especially passionate about helping two-spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (2SLGBTQ+) youth and young adults who are navigating sexuality, relationship, gender and sexual minority identities, and accompanying distress within a heteronormative world.
In addition to 2SLGBTQ+ affirming therapies, I have personal and professional experience in working with anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, grief and loss, work stress, life transitions, and self-esteem.
Outside of work, you can find me playing Dungeons and Dragons, performing in, and producing musical theatre, and spending time at home with my cat, Patrick.

What can you expect from our sessions together?
-
I value the therapeutic relationship between counsellor and client, meaning that I cultivate a space underlined by trust and openness, allowing for you to express yourself without fear of judgment. Our conversations are kept confidential and secure. This professional setting supports personal growth and a transformative journey towards improved mental well-being.

I strive to develop a partnership with clients in which we can cultivate a positive perspective together by fostering self-reflection, reframing challenges, and setting achievable goals. Through open dialogue and skilled guidance, you will gain insights, coping skills, and resilience, leading to a more optimistic, balanced outlook on life.
-
Together, we will move towards a state of empowerment where you can begin to break free from negative thought patterns by identifying, challenging, and replacing destructive thoughts. Through therapeutic techniques and evidence-based practices like cognitive-behavioural theory, we will walk the path to more positive and resilient beliefs, promoting lasting personal growth and well-being.

I am a cisgender gay man with extensive experience working with folks of numerous sexual and gender diverse identities. I know that many people in the 2SLGBTQ+ community have had challenging experiences in the past and long for a space in which they do not have to explain queer culture to a mainstream counsellor. In our sessions, you can expect that, as part of the community myself, I will have a strong knowledge base in daily life as a queer person as well as minority stress and challenges faced by those of 2SLGBTQ+ identity.

It is important to me that counselling services be accessible to as many individuals as possible. To that end, I offer services in both official Canadian languages, English and French, tailored to your comfort. Language is a defining factor in all of our interactions and relationships, also informing personal identity to a high degree. I am here to support you using the language that best suits you. ————————————
Your story is important.
Let's talk. Schedule a therapy session and start shaping a narrative of healing, growth, and resilience together.
